The R36MAX is a fun and portable way to revisit classic games. The screen is bright, the controls are responsive, and the battery lasts a long time. It runs smoothly for most games and is great for casual play. However, I do wish the seller had listed the included games in the product description — it would’ve helped manage expectations. Still, it’s a solid retro handheld for the price and makes a great gift for game lovers.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I didn't know exactly what to expect so I was nicely surprised when I powered it on and looked through the included games. It has a decent weight, doesn't feel flimsy and has a nice screen size handheld held gaming.

I was very ecstatic to finally get my hands on one of these handheld emulator, but that quickly went down the drain. The game library is massive and exactly what I was hoping for, but trying to play a simple game for more than 30 minutes was simply not going to happen. The battery dropped down in charge from 100%, to around 70% rather quickly, and once the device was near the 60% mark, it shuts off and will not turn back on. To verify that it wasn’t just a one off event, I charged the device fully 2x, and the exact same results happened. Very disappointing to say the least. I had high hopes for this small handheld, but like they say, you get what you pay for.

I’ve been using the R36MAX for a couple of weeks now, and it’s honestly one of the best handheld retro consoles I’ve tried. The upgraded chip runs classic 2D games flawlessly, and I was surprised to see how well it handled some 3D titles too. Load times are quick, and the gameplay is smooth with no noticeable lag.The 4-inch IPS screen is bright and sharp, and the 720x720 resolution really makes the old-school graphics pop. I also love the full-angle viewing—it’s easy to play from any position without losing clarity. The controls feel solid and responsive, and the system is lightweight enough to carry around without any bulk.Battery life is great—I’ve gotten close to 6 hours on a single charge, which is perfect for travel or long commutes. The built-in speakers are decent, and the headphone jack is a nice touch when I want to play quietly.

I brought this handheld console with me on a recent trip and it came in surprisingly useful. It didn’t take up much space in my backpack, and the weight felt pretty light even with the case. This has been a really fun little handheld and a great intro to handheld gaming for my 5yo son. It is pre-loaded with around 400 games but some of them do repeat. You can switch between them pretty easily by resetting the device and then selecting. I do wish it didn't ask me if I wanted English or Chinese in the beginning but not a huge deal.It is a great smaller size and perfect for his hands. It has a lot of variety on the games. The battery has lasted quite a while. I didn't time it but it did last hours before needing a charge so I am pleased with that. The only way to connect it to your TV is with the a/v cables which my TV doesn't have. You can of course have an adapter but I don't own one of those.It is pretty light weight and not the best quality but it is very usable. I have quite enjoyed playing on it.
