Good coffee. Sub-par packaging (no zip-lock).
I got whole beans of the Micro-climate. The coffee was pretty good. But I had to throw about 50% of the beans away because they seemed to have gone bad. I was unwell for 2 weeks in between so I stopped consuming coffee during that period. When I went back to this bag, it smelled funny to me and to others as well, so I tossed it out, instead of risking drinking bad coffee. The coffee was stored in the original white bag (which has a gas release valve). The white bag was sealed with the clip that comes along with it and all the air had been pushed out. This bag was double sealed in my own zip lock (but my zip lock didnât have a one-way gas release valve). The problem with the clip they provide is that it only holds the top of the bag together - it doesnât actually prevent air from getting in. So thereâs a one-way gas release valve to release CO2 as the beans degas, but thereâs no zip-lock to prevent oxygen from getting in. Oxygen / Air exposure makes the beans go stale much sooner. What I donât get is why a bag of premium coffee (which costs about 25% more than the average market price) does not come in a resealable zip lock bag? Every single other roaster or grower whom I buy from packs in a good quality zip-lock bag. Some of the others are organic coffee growers as well. Not sure why Araku hasnât updated its packaging. Now I know that I have the option of coughing out an extra âš100 for the tin, but I shouldnât be forced to do this by not putting a zip lock on the regular bag.I only did about 7 cups before throwing the rest of the beans out, so I wasnât able to experience the coffee enough to be able to rate this as anything higher than good. Maybe if Iâd consumed the whole bag, my opinion would have been higher. If Araku is going to position themselves in the premium category, theyâve got to bring the packaging in line with that positioning.

It changed my mind in terms of bitterness.
The taste of Microclimate Coffee is well-balanced and smooth, with a hint of fruity ness that adds to the overall complexity of the flavor. I particularly appreciated the lack of bitterness that can sometimes be present in other coffee brands. The finish is clean and leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
